Muscular Dystrophy Association Arkansas
The seventh and final beneficiary spotlight is on the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Arkansas.
The muscular dystrophy association supports neuromuscular diseases that take away physical strength, independence, and life. One of the most recognized diseased of this group is ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. The ice bucket challenge of 2014 raised over $115 million funding ALS research to help find a cure.
The mission of the Muscular Dystrophy Association is support those who suffer from muscular dystrophy and their families. Each day, freedoms like walking, hugging, playing and even breathing are taken away from kids and adults in our community with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related muscle-debilitating diseases. The money donated and raised by MDA fuel their efforts to find research breakthroughs across diseases; to care for kids and adults from day one; and to empower families in hometowns across America with services and support.
